I was born on a typical cold morning in Beaverlodge, Alberta (Canada) and ended up spending most my early childhood growing up in and around the area better known to most as the Peace Country. Like a lot of young kids in Canada I fell in love at an early age with the game of hockey. When I wasn’t in school I was on the ice with goalie equipment in tow doing my best to stop frozen rubber.
Like every other hockey crazed child my dream was to play in the N.H.L and while I never quite hit that peak I was very fortunate to travel near and far across Canada and the U.S. making a lot of friends in the process. Towards the end of my “teens” however I soon realized I wasn’t going to become the next Edmonton Oiler great and I had to start thinking about other career choices. Fortunately enough it didn’t take to long to decide.
Having always been a huge video game fan I’ll never forget the first day I had the opportunity to explore the world wide web. Needless to say I was instantly hooked and It wasn’t long after exploring the internet where my curiosity got the best of me and I began building websites. Over the course of my early years building websites I learned the HTML language and at the age of 17 I was building websites for friends and businesses around the Beaverlodge area.
Since having grown up in Beaverlodge I’ve also spent time in Grande Prairie, Calgary, and Edmonton (where I currently reside). I still have a passion for the game of hockey and spend a lot of my spare time following my favorite team, the Edmonton Oilers, as well as continuing to play goal in Senior hockey. I’m also quite proud to announce that I’ve been given a great opportunity to get into the game as a coach which I look forward to as I’ve always wanted to be able to teach the things some of my great coaches taught me.
Towards the end of my teenager years I was fortunate to be the head honcho for the Northwest Junior Hockey League’s website. I spent the better part of three years updating and maintaining the site with statistics, articles, updates etc…It still to this day is one of the more memorable things I’ve been able to do as it combined two things I enjoy doing the most. In the summer of 2001 though I handed over the reigns to another would be web developer as I was headed to College to pursue a Computer Engineering Degree.
In late 2003 I was fortunate to extend my knowledge working for Robins West (a division of Robins Donuts) for three years in which I was in charge of designing a wide variety of posters and brochures as well as creating (at the time) the Robins West website. The pride project was developing a digital menu board system much like the ones you see around today. But that wasn’t all as I was also in charge of setting up numerous in store networks, Point of Sale Systems, security cameras, and even learning how to brew a perfect cup of coffee! It was a very rewarding experience but the company was purchased and I moved on to where I am today…
I’ve always been the type of guy who enjoys working for himself and it still reigns true to this day. The past couple years I’ve worked on a wide variety of websites ranging from e-commerce to blogs, even setting up a webcam sharing website. Today I spend a lot of my time building websites that are powered by WordPress. It truly is a great product and ultimately very easy to use for the people I set it up for.
I registered the .com in 2003 and have changed the site a billion times since. It originally began as nothing more then a website to provide a place for me to host and showcase the pictures I had of friends, family, and vacations. It wasn’t long after when I changed it to my online portfolio and moved my photos to another domain.
